Commenting on HM Revenues & Customs (HMRC) doubling the number of its staff trained in tax evasion, Gordon Balmer, Executive Director of the Car Wash Association (CWA), said: "Whilst it is encouraging that HMRC has increased resources to tackle tax evasion by doubling the number of staff trained in surveillance, it is vital that these resources are focused on the worst offenders."

“As the UK experiences warmer weather and water companies respond with hosepipe bans to cope with demand in the absence of rainfall, authorities need to crack down on non-compliant hand car washes that continue to operate unlawfully” said Brian Madderson, Chairman of the Car Wash Association (CWA).

Commenting on the Government’s recent data on illegal working civil penalties, Brian Madderson, Chairman of the Car Wash Association (CWA), said: “CWA welcomes the Government’s crackdown on hand car wash businesses who employ illegal workers and supports the Home Office’s efforts to tackle an issue which can cost the Treasury hundreds of thousands. However, we feel that enforcement must go further."
